Villages in Vermont
When I think of villages, coming from the west coast, I tend to envision European villages. A central plaza, with a church, the government buildings, a restaurant or pub, a statue...Well, who knew what lovely villages we have right here in the original 13 colonies?
Dorset Vermont was lovely in every way. White buildings with green accents, flowers, pumpkins (we are in October), a beautiful church, an inn, and an awesome general store. The Dorset Union Store, over 200 years old, had everything you could imagine. I only purchased locally made bread and goat cheese, and berry pie. Wow. So fresh, so good, so local! If not for winters, I might have jumped on one of the homes for sale.
The village of Woodstock was a bit larger, and equally lovely. The town green has the Town Hall, the library, cute shops, restaurants, and great ice cream!!! One of the things we couldn’t help but notice was how friendly everyone was. Hello, how are you, may I help you, do you need me to take a picture? Nice, nice people!
Vermont has beautiful rivers and lakes, and you are never far from any of them. The cheese is delicious, the food is great, the people are nice, the landscape is stunning, and I already miss it! I only wish I had had apple pie with Vermont cheddar...hm. I must go back!
