Slowly I turn....
Niagara Falls. On the bucket list for so many reasons, not least of which is the Three Stooges routine. If you haven’t seen it, you must.
Of course, there are many more important reasons to visit Niagara Falls. The sheer beauty and magnificence of the falls are the primary focus. Did you know that in the summer the falls flow 75,000 gallons a second? Wow!
What I want to know is why anyone wanted to go over the falls in a barrel? Well the first person to go over the falls in the barrel was a 61 year old retired school teacher. A female. A woman, with a cruel streak. Before she took off, she sent a barrel over with a cat, to make sure it was safe. Can you imagine poor Dr. Picasso being slammed and tossed upon the rocks? If you want to learn more about this adventurous (crazy?) lady, check out Annie Edson Taylor
We loved our day, walking along the water, checking out the falls, and seeing all the squirrels trying to avoid humans and stock up for winter.
If Niagara Falls is on your bucket list, you won’t be disappointed. If it is not, well why not? Nature, history, drama, and close to some amazing food and wine. Just stick to wine barrels, and avoid heading over the waterfalls!
