I am sure that anyone from Maine, or who has visited Maine, would give us excellent recommendations for fabulous lobster, but we took our cue from the woman we met in the Herman J. Weimar tasting room on Seneca Lake, NY. She is from Maine, and said it was a must do.

If only we had arrived one day sooner, we would have been seated outside, sipping our BYOB (that is a secret...no alcohol on the menu but you can bring your own...) listening to the waves crashing and smelling the sea air. Alas, the day was cold, 50 degrees is cold for Californians, with a heavy downpour of rain. We ate inside, and enjoyed ourselves anyway.

The great things about the Lobster Shack are as follows: location! You can essentially visit the Two Lights Lighthouse while dining. Okay, you can see it very clearly from there. Naturally, you can go to the park and walk closer, but we were already wet from lighthouse number 1, so we enjoyed the view with our lobster rolls, clam chowder and clam cake. Food! The lobster roll was delicious, and clearly fresh lobster as we saw the tank with live lobster...the clam cake was new to us, and very good. It was like fried clams but a bunch of them at once! Cocktail sauce or tartar or both. Our total for 2 lobster rolls, 2 clam chowders, a clam cake, and two soft drinks with tax was $58 dollars. People! The Lobster Shack supports Maine Adaptive, and all tips go to that organization which provides year round recreational sports opportunities for people with disabilities. The Lobster Shack also hires people with challenges, and our hostess/table cleaner was a smiling young woman who loved her job.

If you are going to the lighthouse, bring a bottle of your favorite wine, or some great micro brew , and settle in for some fabulous lobster at the Shack. The lobster plates and dinners looked incredible. I think I will go back, in any kind of weather.
