Cozy and delicious Snug Harbor

Cozy and delicious Snug Harbor

Snug Harbor is a lovely restaurant with a warm ambience inside, including a river rock fireplace, and a lovely view of the river with outdoor art. The menu is eclectic, the service excellent, the people watching sublime, and the food delicious if slightly overpriced. The wine list is diverse and affordable. The clam chowder was delicious; spicy, with large clams, celery, carrots, potatoes. The cider roasted chicken with garlic smashed potatoes and asparagus was perfectly prepared. The chicken just fell off the bone and melted in the mouth.

Chris chose the seafood pasta with large chunks of lobster, crab, prawns...the carrot cake for dessert from a local bakery was the best conclusion. The waitress was a delightful college student who was just finishing her summer assignment.

We were happy to have 2 great Uber drivers. One was a young man with 4 children, including his recently born twins. He was animated in his discussion of art and the current art prize events in Grand Rapids. Interestingly enough, the neighboring table at the restaurant was as critical of the event as he was positive. They felt it was too politically correct, while he was fascinated with a piece of art comprised of $100,000 dollars of pennies that had different shades of copper color and expressed human diversity. The second driver was a local expert on downtown food, nightlife and shopping. He suggested two great microbreweries downtown.

What a fun place, and a great spot to hang out on our around the lake tour of Michigan.
