Last Night in Nashville
Thunder, Lightening, Tornado warnings. What to do? Hop on the shuttle, head downtown and bar hop?
The weather forecast didn’t look good for late evening or night, so we headed downtown around 4 pm. First, we stopped in to George Jones, and headed to the roof top bar. No storm yet, so might as well have a cocktail, an appetizer, live music by Cassidy Daniels ( www.cassidydaniels.com), and a view of the river.
Next we wandered down Broadway to Robert’s Western World. We had some French fries (really good, hot, salty...!) and a beer. I stuck with the local Yazoo Amber, and Chris had the Yazoo Pale ale. The music was old school country, but alas the singer was not at his best. He had quite the shiner, so I made up a story about him losing his gal to a city slicker, but not without a fight.
We meandered to Tootsies Orchid Lounge, the oldest honky tonk on Broadway. There were three levels, with three good bands, but we couldn’t find a spot where we could here one without the other. Everyone says you have to go there. So go. We moved on to Legends Corner where we could breathe, get a drink, and hear a great local band. Kinsey Rose, from Kentucky, was a delight. She covered popular country songs, and sang original songs too. Typical Man was a great song. Sing it Kinsey!
We headed back just in time to avoid the rain and wind. You could say we got Lucky. Especially because Lucky was the name of our delightful driver, and she even brought her adorable small dog Rocky along for the ride.
Until the next visit...Vaya con Dios Nashville.
