10 Sleep Wyoming, no insomnia here!
10 Sleep Wyoming, population 260, and so named because it was 10 sleeps, or days of travel, from key locations in the west. 10 Sleep Wyoming is home to the 10 Sleep Brewing Company, which is an absolutely great stop on any trail. Flush against the backdrop of craggy, tall red stoned mountains and, in the right season, fronted by green alfalfa with antelope snacking away, the brewery has been a local’s delight since 2013. Do you want to sit outside and sip a beer while snacking on local meats and cheeses? Perhaps take a growler or 2 home with you? There is bingo once a week, and special events on a regular basis. You can camp for 4 bucks, and a shower will only cost you 3.
I enjoyed the Amber and the Speed Goat, while hubby liked the huck and tuck wheat. We sat outside and made friends with the free roaming chickens until we were joined by a local refreshing his growler. I won’t share his entire story, but suffice it to say that I feel like I know this man really, really well. His last name is Hinton, and he has the worn look of someone who spent his life outside, and loved it. Retired now, and recently completing his bucket list of driving all the way to the top of the Alaskan highway and back in 7 weeks.
Do you like meeting locals who will never be strangers? Does a great micro brew call to you? Could you use a peaceful break, with great views, while you pause in your journey? If so, 10 Sleeps Brewing Company is a can’t miss destination. I would even go out of my way to visit...of course, like most things in Eastern Wyoming, it is on your way even though it is out of the way.
