Bozeman, MT. Future home?
Bozeman is a great college town, with outdoor activities galore, and rivers and mountains everywhere you look. It is home to a symphony, theatre, art galleries, and a burgeoning wine, beer and distillery scene.
Montana, as a potential relocation destination, has much to offer. It is the little things, like an 80 MPH speed limit, and a law that requires slow pokes to get out of the passing lane. Low property taxes, no sales tax, excellent healthcare and education and affordable housing are all positives. The median sales price for homes is $400,000 in Bozeman, and prices on property outside the city can be much less. Average 2 bedroom apartment rental is only $1200 dollars.
What is not to like? Well according to exhaustive personal interviews (1 good friend, a couple, a young woman, a neighbor of the friend, and a native Montanan from a different city) the winters can be tough. Depending on which one of my sources you asked, it can last 6 to 9 months. There is snow. Definitely. This was cited as a positive factor. Apparently, no matter how cold, everyone meets downtown for happy hour!
According to the experts there are 188 sunny days and an average of 72 inches of snow per year.
Much to ponder...:)
