From Boring to Wapita
Yellowstone Valley Inn & RV Park, Wapita, Wyoming
The RV Park is an oasis in the middle of the mountains and plains of Western Wyoming. Log Cabins to rent, a restaurant and a saloon evoke the Wild West and the RV hookups have all modern conveniences. A creek runs through the property and the spaces are wide, with grass and trees.
The restaurant is particularly welcome after a full day of driving through Yellowstone. The efficient and only waitress handles all of the tables with grace. She seems worn out; not the kind of tired after a long, hard day of work, but rather tired from a long and hard life. How does a woman from Boring, Oregon end up in Wapita (Cody) Wyoming? I didn’t feel right asking that question, but I did ask why Boring, OR is named Boring. Apparently, it is named after Mr. Boring himself!
We shared the angus beef and gravy over mashed potatoes and the salad bar. The servings were very large, because the kind waitress had them split the meal in the kitchen and my half filled up the whole plate. The beef was exceptional tender, the gravy was certainly from a package, and the salad was indeed fresh.
Refreshed and replenished, we prepared for our next day’s adventures.
