Halloween camping is spooky!

Wow. We were surprised by the Canadian Thanksgiving, Columbus Day holidays. We thought we had learned our lesson. But, did you know that Halloween is so popular that campgrounds have Halloween decorating contests, trains and trolleys, and book up every weekend in October? Well, that makes two of us. We got lucky with the last remaining spot at King Phillip’s campground in Lake George, because they were sold out for their Halloween theme weekends. In the evening,by our campfire, we saw the train go by with guests checking out the scary sights...I behaved myself.

We tired to make reservations in Foxboro, MA. We were informed that their Halloween themed weekends book up for months, so we were out of luck. If I did not already dislike Halloween, my least favorite holiday, this would certainly send me over the edge.

Tonight was easy at Naples KOA, in Naples Maine. A beautiful site, full hookups, 35 dollars a night, beautiful trees and peaceful atmosphere. Apparently Halloween hooligans have not invaded here yet!

The lesson is not just to pay attention to holidays, but to pay attention to local culture. Halloween decorating contests are everywhere!
