Farm to table in Hartford
Trumbull Kitchen in downtown Hartford, Connecticut was a great introduction to the state’s culinary scene. After a red eye flight from LA to Boston, and a drive from Boston Logan to Hartford, we both needed sustenance before touring the Mark Twain house and museum, and the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center. The ambience was warm, yet industrial with high ceilings and exposed ducting. The service staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. I enjoyed a copper ale from Massachusetts, along with a fig and prosciutto “stone pie”, aka pizza. Chris enjoyed his chicken pad Thai. I thought it was delish, because of course I stole a bite, but it tasted more like sweet and sour to me. The downtown Hartford area has an eclectic mix of choices. Jamaican, Italian delis, pubs, wine bars, bbq and more.
We were there at lunchtime during the week. There is definitely a business lunch crowd, and suits and ties are the norm. There is an energy to the downtown, and renovation happening. A great place to be!
