A hard row to hoe....
When I first heard that we were visiting a winery in Lake Chelan, WA called Hard Row to Hoe, I was sure that I heard A hard row to hoe…and naturally assumed that it was a reference to the challenges of the project. But no. Seems that there used to be a gold mine near by, and miners who wanted a little diversion after long hours in the mine would get in a boat and row to an island on the lake where there was a friendly brothel. In other words, it was a hard row to hoe…! This winery is in a gorgeous setting, has a nice blend of wines, and makes the most of its doble entrendre…The wine club has 2 levels: The Oar club or the Nauti-boy. The wallpaper looks like old fashioned floral until you focus, and then it is much more the Kama Sutra. If you are driving through the area, I cannot recommend this stop enough. A giggle, a history lesson, beautiful views and wine. How can you go wrong?
