I-35 RV Park Waco
We only needed on night in Waco, and there weren’t many great RV choices. I35, while on the Frontage road of the freeway, seemed like the best choice. Every RV park has its culture and unique features. This one was clean, convenient, and the freeway noise was not too bad. The unique factor was a free cook to order breakfast every morning, and some of the best people watching and eavesdropping around.
There were 3 women doing all the work. Eggs any style, pancakes, French toast, hashed browns, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, coffee, juice, homemade muffins. While we were waiting for breakfast I chatted with the lady in charge who was making cinnamon rolls for the next day’s breakfast. I said they smelled great. She proceeded to give me the recipe. First you start with Rhodes frozen dough from Walmart. Tear it into small pieces and put in casserole dish. Then you use a package of butterscotch pudding. Take brown sugar, a cube of butter and microwave for 3 minutes. Pour on top and mix together. Let it sit out all night and bake in the morning , or put in your freezer.
Then there was the owner with 2 buddies discussing everything from Mitochnodria (his former tenant in Irvine CA was a professor and specialist) to coffee, to hot sauce. Now, the thing about coffee was that as long as you can handle the caffeine, you can’t drink too much. And, coffee is the best source o antioxidants in the American diet. You need good coffee though. Their local market started roasting their own beans. Arabica beans, now that makes good coffee. Also, according to the owner and Navy veteran, never wash your cup. “We never washed them in the Navy.” I have to hide my cup around here. Someone is always trying to wash it. “
Hot sauce. Well, this is Texas. The owner makes his own. 2 kinds. 1 is for Democrats and Yankees and one is for Republicans and Rednecks. I am going out on a limb here, and guessing that the spiciest one is for the Rednecks.
Free breakfast and entertainment? Can’t be beat!
