The Double J

The Double J

If you are visiting Springfield in an RV, do not hesitate to stay at Double J. The park has all the amenities you could want, and although it is right along the freeway, that is balanced by the Uberability to visit all things Lincoln with ease.

Chris and I chose not to tow a car, which has meant that we occasionally need Uber or to rent a car. We met some amazing Uber drivers in Springfield. The first driver was an attorney whose daughter had graduated law school and moved to Kansas City. His son had just entered Harvard Law. I am guessing that college tuition was why he drives UBER!

The return ride was also an interesting fellow. A retired police officer and overall friendly fellow he shared real estate prices and local cultural knowledge. I am so far happy that we are not towing a car, in spite of the potential conveniences. How else would we meet local folks on our stops?

My one completing about the Double J was that you could only burn firewood purchased from them. Now, that would be okay if the darned wood would burn! The first night, the night I was trying to cook outside, all the fire did was smoke, and smoke and smoke. Emergency transfer of food to the inside kitchen was going well until I tripped a fuse and the fan went out. Good news. The smoke detector works really well! Comedy of errors? Thank goodness for wine! The last night the office gave us some homemade super fire starter. We had great fire!

Overall, a great place. Give it a try!
